San Francisco Vizsla Beach Playground

32 miles west of our house is Fort Funston.  We park by the horse stables at the end of John Daly Blvd. and walk down to the beach.

The hills above the beach were breathtaking today.  We have had a westerly breeze the last few days.  The air was crisp and clear!

50 degrees and astonishing day along the ocean.

Life is a Vizsla beach

The joy of seeing our two dogs happily run the cliffs overlooking the Pacific in San Francisco makes the 45 minute drive worth it.

One of these days I am going to catch the true spirit of a Vizsla in a picture.

Until then I will keep trying.

San Diego dog comes to San Francisco

365 days a year in San Francisco and less than a 5 percent of them would be as nice as today.  Joseph and his family met Joanie and me for an early morning walk along the cliffs and then the beach of Fort Funston.  They had driven up from San Diego for a long weekend with family in the East Bay.

They had read in the Dog Lover's Companion about Fort Funston and were able to meet us there at 8:30.

The Dog Lover's Companion to California: The Inside Scoop on Where to Take Your Dog (Dog Lover's Companion Guides)

They brought their little girl Vizsla, Brulee, who enjoyed running after and with Bailey and Chloe.

All five "kids" played king or queen of the hill.

After an hour of walking the beach, we headed back.  We came across the Vizsla Walk group

heading toward us.  Josesph and his family joined the group to go back down the beach as we headed back home.

The foxtails have driven us out of the hills for now.  The beach and the hills above the ocean make a great alternative.

Fort Funston Vizsla Mayham

Steven Brooks took some great shots during this Vizsla Walk

Steven took some brilliant shots.  Here Bailey points, while Chloe gets ready to tackle the surf.

Look closely at the center of the above shot.  That is Chloe and Bailey.

Vizslas attack San Francisco beach

Twenty red dogs ranging from a 5-month-old male pup to a lovely 13-year-old female with a beautiful white muzzle attacked the bluffs and then the sandy beach at the southern border of the City of San Francisco.
We all descended the hills above the beach at Fort Funston, San Francisco, on a perfect late May Sunday morning. Untethered Vizslas ran happily along the beach, climbed steep slopes, and swam in the surf of the Pacific Ocean.
Bailey and Chloe had a splendid time, as did all the four- and two- legged visitors to this little slice of heaven.

This was a walk arranged by Kay Ingle and was posted on the Yahoo group site : VizslaWalk.

Many friends of the redbird dog came and enjoyed the high energy and mayhem.
This is what Vizslas need. Not small urban dog parks.

Nikki, Bailey's sister, couldn't be happier. Can you tell?

This dog had heard of the healing effects of a mud bath in Woof Magazine.

Chloe loves the surf and will jump waves happily in search of a thrown green ball. She has learned to body surf the waves back to shore.

We shared the beach with a few other dogs and horses, but for the most part, it became Red Birddog Beach for a couple hours..
After the walk, Chole and Bailey look down at the activity still occuring on he beach from the cliffs above.

They sleep quietly now in the living room as I post this to their blog.
Another Happy trail.
