Morro Bay from Black Hill

From Morro Bay State Park, where we parked our Lazy Daze motor home during a RV get-together, we headed up the hill.

Bailey and Chloe joined me to hike the peak of Black Hill.
At 1,661 feet, the pinnacle allowed us a view over Morro Bay and the surrounding valleys were spectacular.
Breathtaking.

The dogs enjoyed it.  I loved it!

At one point a couple small rabbits crossed the trail as we hiked up the rocky trail.

I just glad my arm is still attached to my shoulder.
They are hunting dogs after all.

Morro Bay Mud Bath

18-month-old Lily found the joy that is the mud flats of Morro Bay at the Morro Bay State Park.
She shares the fun with her dog Rowdy and her dog aunt Chloe.  Mom wanders out into the mud flats as I hang back laughing my rear off - taking these pictures.

Lily's poor mom was certain they would be swallowed up by the quicksand.  It was most mushy!
 Lily was in toddler heaven.
Moist sticky mud.  The dogs had fun prancing around.  They were light enough not to make much of a print in the soft, sandy muck.
Good thing she had her extra-absorbent diaper on.

Hidden Treasure -"Dog Beach" Morro Bay

Six miles north of "The Rock" of Morro Bay is a section of coast owned by Chevron.

This area is "dog friendly" to well-behaved dogs.  They are allowed to be off-leash in this one section that is maybe two miles long.

The signs going in to the dog beach tell users -
"keeping the beach clean and dogs under control."

The understanding is simple.  Dog owners have to be responsible for this section of beach to be open for use.  The off-leash right is fragile and revocable at any time.
One of the few off-leash areas along the central coast of California.
Bailey and Chloe had a great time.  The weather was grand.
The Rock of Morro Bay off in the distance

The exit off of Highway 1 is Yerba Buena Ave.  Then a quick right through a neighborhood to the parking area.  Our motor home was just about too big for the parking lot.  In the summer, we would not have found a place to park.
